New topic should have a new thread.
Quick answer: Do not worry, be happy.
If tribune is not being a PITA regarding their corporate split, it might
even be transparent. If old tribune and new tribune can not get their
act together (old media vs new media, and all that), you may need
to redirect the name using RPZ, or adding an entry in your /etc/hosts
file (or, perhaps, using a proxy redirect on your gateways). This all
presumes that Robert Eden can complete his work on the DD
transition service (which is in Beta), but other than the usual beta
issues, it is looking like it will be an adequate transition technology
for most.
If you want more details you probably should review the other
thread and join in.
As for your upgrades (which would seem to be in order) CentOS 7 is
probably a much better place to start than CentOS 6 (6 has the
backlevel Qt 4 issue, and has been reported to have various issues
with other software versions such as some d-bus interactions).
