Yes...that was a udev change...I recall getting burned by that one.  I
just looked back and I can see that I used the suggested approach
where a dummy file at /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules causes
it to use the old names:

cat /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules
# dummy empty file to keep eth* and wlan*

Yet something else handled very poorly by the same folks that
unleashed systemd on the world ;).
