[mythtv-users] Need help using "Alternate Player"

Hi-yas,

I have some video which vlc will play, but mythfrontend will not.
(specifically: despite MKV re-packing, myth does not use the subtitles, and 
skips part-way through the video on start, VLC is fine)

So I'm trying to configure MythTV to use the alternate player.

I navigated to the video file in question, and typed "X", and selected 
"Enable Alternate Player" checkbox.
In the "Alternate Player" field, I entered: /usr/bin/vlc file://%s vlc://quit

But when I try to play the video with the alternate player, nothing happens.

There is no log about this in the frontend log either.

any ideas ?
