Oh, and to be explicit, those calls should preferable
be done during a period when the appropriate people
will actually be working. And since (along the way)
I would not be surprised that you (or someone you
talk to) gets to talk to the right coast, and the left
coast there are limited hours to catch all (Comcast
Corporate, and some of their offices, are on the east
coast, your local franchise is obviously west coast,
and some of the engineers are in the middle). Only
the local franchise can make some of the
checks/changes (there is no "one" Comcast, there
are lots of Comcast-etts, surrounded by the corporate
umbrella and corporate engineering), but you (usually)
can not talk to your local franchise engineers directly,
but have to talk to the people who can communicate to
them.
It can be frustrating, especially when all you want is
your TV. Comcast's answer, of course, is just use
their devices and it all works (and I have to admit,
I have heard reasonably good things from people
about the Comcast X1 platform who just want their
TV to work and do not want to take up the new hobby
of MythTV or WMC (and it is a hobby)). Every provider
is going to have special challenges supporting the small
percentage that use a CableCARD and are not using
a TiVo (who does their own support and engineering).
Good luck.
