I also have a PCTV-290e as well as the DVBSky.  The difference between 
the 290 and the PCTV 292e is that the 290 auto-switches between DVB-T 
and DVB-T2 whereas the 292 does not.  Antti Palosaari, who wrote the 
open source drivers for both, explains in his blog that when he wrote 
the driver for the cxd2820r in the 290 he included a "hackish solution" 
of first tuning with DVB-T and then trying DVB-T2.  He felt that after 
three years when it came to the SI2168 it was time to "get rid of such 
hacks". See

it's not going to change in the kernel.
