With some time on my hands this morning I went back to the "Carbon
Footprint" thread and started re-reading slowly, noticed the "HPET_emulated :
yes" was changed way back when to "no", edited /etrc/default/grub, updated
grub, rebooted, scheduled a test recording, and viola, the box sprang back
to life in time for the test. Much joy, thanks to all!   Daryl
