For fast/cheap/easy/gui the Edgerouter Lite is getting good press.  Yes,
you have to use the vyatta CLI for some advanced capabilities, but you
would be hard pressed to find something as capable(*) as cheap.

And for those that are always looking at low power, one of these
is going to be much lower power than (especially) an old PC you
just happen to have lying around.

(*) Note that you need to stay within the (cavium) hardware
assisted capabilities to get the rated 1 million packets per
second out of it, but $99 for 3 port line rate (for larger packets)
is not bad.
