Ah! it must be just mythffplay that requires SDL and the --enable-sdl 
option that would make more sense :)

I know we didn't make any of the ffmpeg utils until Gavin added the 
option so we could be sure what command line options are available to us 
in mythffmpeg. I don't remember what version that was added in though.
