And you're saying you have a real recording rule to record the 7pm 
news?  If it was Live TV, it did the right thing--because Live TV is 
/always/ deleted before even Deleted recordings since it's "just noise" 
you had on that you didn't care enough about to create a recording rule.

Or you may have been hit by the "recording gets put in Live TV group 
when watching"

If your file system is 100% full and you have no expirable recordings 
(and no Live TV and no Deleted recordings) on it, and MythTV starts a 
new recording on that file system, it will fail to write data when it 
writes that last-available byte--and will almost definitely crash 
hard/lock up/not recover/...
