I recently added a Logitech wireless keyboard. I don't know if that
matters, but there were no blinking lights.

I found this in /var/log/syslog.1:

Mar 16 19:45:03 ThinkCentre-M58p kernel: [1648447.398129] kernel tried
to execute NX-protected page - exploit attempt? (uid: 0)
Mar 16 19:45:03 ThinkCentre-M58p kernel: [1648447.398134] BUG: unable to
handle kernel paging request at ffff8800643c2180

followed by a bunch of stuff that someone who understands things at that
level would probably recognize, the last line of which was:

Mar 16 19:45:03 ThinkCentre-M58p kernel: [1648447.398326] ---[ end trace
4e5550a59766eea3 ]---

The lines after that shows the machine rebooting:

Mar 16 19:52:58 ThinkCentre-M58p kernel: imklog 5.8.6, log source =
/proc/kmsg started.
Mar 16 19:52:58 ThinkCentre-M58p rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd"
swVersion="5.8.6" x-pid="854" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] start

I've installed smartmontools. Now just to find a time when I can let it
do its thing. :-)
