I'm still on 0.26/fixes but this rang a bell (although Marcus has seen it  
before). It also mentions work-arounds:

The 0.27 code seems unchanged so I've attached the patch that fixed it for  
me, in case anyone wants to confirm/investigate further.

It's puzzling that there are comments that sometimes it works, sometimes  
not and that Paul can't replicate it but I do wonder if it's theme related  
- I use a custom theme with a full-screen tree.
