Hello.

Also looking at this same issue. I have read that you have to create a 
asound.conf file (in your home directory)for the sound card. I have HDMI 
thru my Nvidia video card. So, I went into mythtv frontend setup and 
then into the sound and found my card info there:

AUDIO OUT: ALSA:HDMI
CARD: NVIDIA
DEV=0

Now to test this theory out I need to make a /home/.asound.conf file. 
Too busy right now I have to get some work done but will try and look 
into it later.
