It depends on the broadcaster. E.g. the BBC appears to have good IDs.

For Unitymedia / eventis.nl the data is known bad for our use case. So 
after fixing our code to handle their IDs it appears best to write code 
to ignore their IDs :(
The programid is broken as in you get the same ID for different episodes 
and different IDs for the same ID... From your report it appears as it 
the same issue is also with seriesid.

When you tell me a CRID, e.g. 
eventis.nl/00000000-0000-1000-0008-00000000ab9a then I can lookup my 
local database and find a locator for it. (e.g. the chanid and starttime 
of a broadcast / repeat)
