[mythtv-users] CLI access to tuner status?

I need a way to find out from a script whether or not a given tuner is
in use. I'm getting a lot more zero-length recordings since moving from
0.26/Fedora 18 to 0.27/F19 (also completely new hardware). It's at the
point now where my system is not reliable, so I am having to program
everything on the Comcrap DVR to keep the WAF up and avoid missing
stuff.

I'm using a pair of HD-PVR 1212's. When it gets into a hosed state, the
channel on the STB gets changed, and Myth thinks it is recording, but in
fact the record lights are not turned on on the HD-PVR and the
recordings are zero-byte. To recover it I have to power cycle the
HD-PVR, then it works fine (for a while).

I want to run a script periodically that checks to see if the HD-PVR is
working (cat from the device for a few seconds, see if it got any data).
Then I am thinking of purchasing a USB-controllable power strip so that
I could power cycle when needed. The catch of course is that I don't
want to end up power cycling while there is a recording in progress, so
I need a way to check this before mucking about with the HD-PVR.

Thanks,
