I use a DVI > HDMI adapter, but the TV still switches from antenna to 
HDMI input when the VGA monitor, which usually carries Myth and several 
other KDE windows from the same videocard, leaves screensaver mode. 
I've seen this but I haven't investigated it.  Presumably it isn't CEC 
related.
