[mythtv-users] mythvidexport questions

After hearing a number of times about how wonderful the Video Library
is, I decided to try making use of it, but so far, without much success.

I've defined storage groups as outlined in the wiki. That part seems OK.
My problem is with getting mythvidexport to work properly. I can't seem
to get it to do anything other than create files with a name like
"Series Title.mpg". Of course that works only once, subsequent attempts
to archive shows from the same series will fail with duplicate file
names.

Question #1: Do I have to create all the subdirectories manually? That
is, I want to use a tformat like "%TITLE%/Season %SEASON%/%EPISODE% %
SUBTITLE%". Do I have to create Videos/%TITLE%, Videos/%TITLE%/Season
1/, etc. by hand, or should mythvidexport do this for me?

Here's an output from attempting this:

==============================================================
JOBID=10854
TITLE=Doctor Who
SEASON=0
EPISODE=0
SUBTITLE=The Girl in the Fireplace

generic export.

2014-02-25 07:04:09.583909 I [5805] mythvidexport.py Transfer Complete
-- 22 seconds elapsed

This creates a file "Videos/Doctor Who.mpg". I get a similar result of
"Videos/Masterpiece Classic.mpg" when trying to export an episode of
"Downton Abbey".

Question #2: Where does the metadata actually come from? It looks like
all the shows I watch have bizarre or missing metadata. The most
hilarious one was attempting to export a Saturday Night Live episode,
and having it go to "Movies/Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Shocking
Truth.mpg" (unfortunately I'm not joking). Here's the output from that
one:

==============================================================
JOBID=10857
TITLE=Saturday Night Live
SEASON=0
EPISODE=0
SUBTITLE=
2014-02-25 08:56:53.994347 I [7857] mythvidexport.py Using recording --

2014-02-25 08:56:56.315290 I [7857] mythvidexport.py Copying
myth://Default@mongoliad.gregandeva.net/1653_20140202053400.mpg to
myth://Videos@mongoliad.gregandeva.net/Movies/Texas Chain Saw Massacre:
The Shocking Truth.mpg

Basically, I've not gotten past the point where I basically have to do
all the filing manually. Needless to say, this is not how I heard it
described. Or was it? Did I misunderstand how this is supposed to work?
Have I done something wrong? Or is it just a wild coincidence that the
few shows I actually record and might want to save episodes of have bad
metadata?
