[mythtv-users] HD playback slight jitter every 10 secs

I haven't yet gotten to 100 percent jitter free HD playback on my Intel Mac
Mini (1.83 GHz (T5600) Intel Core 2 Duo) frontend running ubuntu 13.xx
using MythTv 0.27.xx. Every 10 secs, there is a slight jitter or frame
jump. The jitter isn't noticeable unless you are actively looking for it
which I have trained myself to do. The playback stream was recorded from
OTA recording on a HD homerun device. The mythtv frontend is remote from
the background and connected over ethernet 10/100. The fact that it
happens every 10 secs is weird. Any tips of where to look and how to debug?

I have tried:
1. real-time threads, bumping the priority of the mythtvfrontend process, X
process.
2. starting with a custom xsession which only launches mythfrontend (no
window manager).
3. finding and killing off daemons which I don't need.
4. I am using the 'Normal' video playback profile. However I have tried
all the others as well, none eliminates the issue.

Next on my list is testing the performance of the network.
