[mythtv-users] 0.27 mythtv setup issues with HDHomerunPrime

Hi,
I have a ubuntu 13.10 OS on which I want to set up mythtv using the HDHomerun Prime.
I followed the setup as per the official page on http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Silicondust_HDHomeRun_Prime
except the part for the video source setup. I use the mc2xml grabber hence I left the video source setup section with the "no grabber" option.
Consequently in the input connection I left it without scanning for channels. I then exited the setup and then carried out the mythfilldatabase 
command with the xmltv.xml file from my free EPG grabber. I then went back into mythtv-setup and then set the start-up channel.
However I cannot seem to watch live tv from the mythfrontend as it complains that the mythbackend setup hasn't been done properly.
I don't seem to get as to where I must have gone wrong with my backend set up.

Also a snapshot of the mythconverg.channel table which you will notice doesn't have a number to the channum column.
Is this correct or mythfilldatabase is screwed up?
