[mythtv-users] Backend and frontend out of step - what best to do?

My backend and frontend both run Ubuntu, but I installed the backend
from the Mythbuntu ISO, whereas the frontend I just installed mythbuntu
on the basic 12.04 build.

Now, largely as a result of my not really knowing what I was doing (I'm
learning Myth, though I'm reasonably skilled in Linux) the front end is
running Mythtv 0.26 (2:0.26.1+fixes.20140114.0579bb9-0ubuntu0mythbuntu1)
and the backend 0.25 (2:0.25.2+fixes.20120802.46cab93-0ubuntu1). And
now every time I start the front end it complains that the database
schema is out of date, but that it's not allowed to upgrade the
database. I have run mythtv-setup on the backend because I thought that
was supposed to upgrade the DB automatically, but I must be mistaken
because it doesn't.

So ... the simplest thing seems to be to upgrade the backend to match
the frontend, but normal package management doesn't offer 0.26 on the
backend (presumably because it's working off the Mythbuntu repos).

Can I download Mythtv 0.26 and apply it to the backend? I could rebuild
the whole thing (it's very much a development system at present) but it
means pulling it off its shelf and finding somewhere to put it where I
can get a monitor and a keyboard into it ...

Other suggestions on what to do, bearing in mind my relative novice
status in Mythtv, would be welcome.
