[mythtv-users] ECS Liva for frontend - brief report

I got my Liva up and running with Mythbuntu 12.2. My BE is CentOS 6
running 0.26.1 so I assumed I needed to go with this older version of
Mythbuntu. I just had to roll forward from 0.25 to 0.26.

Will Mythbuntu 14 allow me to roll back to myth 0.26? I assume not.

Anyway, I've got the thing up and running except that I get no audio over
HDMI. This is my first experience with Mythbuntu, so I am struggling a
bit. I've search all over the net and there are just so many things to
try, and it's hard to know whether any of this is relevant to the Liva,
being a new and different beast.

I can find no sound preferences anywhere in the system menu or in Mythbuntu
itself. Is this normal for Mythbuntu?

Do I need to make any adjustments to the audio settings in the Liva Bios?
I didn't.

I have read that some users have installed nvidia drivers to get HDMI sound
to work. Do I need to do that? Looks like I am running lightDM now.

Should I get rid of pulse audio? This has been a common mythtv theme over
the years.

I toggled through all the possibilities in the mythtv audio setup menu
(this list seemed to match aplay -L output) and nothing produced sound. I
didn't try the wizard, but I did rescan.

Do I need a custom /etc/asound.conf to enable HDMI sound?

I checked alsamixer, F5 to show all, and nothing is muted.

I checked aplay -l:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC282 Analog [ALC282 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: ID 2882 Digital [ID 2882 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Nothing here screams HDMI though.

aplay -L shows more:
