They mostly match, but the transportid (if that's the same as TSID) is
different. I don't know the importance of this information, or
exactly what a "transportid" is.

No, I'm only using it as an example.

No, not yet. It takes a couple of hours and can only be done with the
backend shut down, so it's highly disruptive to running recordings or
other people in the house trying to use frontends.

MTD and I have sparred on this issue before. I really don't like
deleting things from the channel table. It does nasty things to the
user display of previous recordings.
My primary concern is not getting it working now, but rather having
confidence that stuff will record properly in the future. If Verizon
moves channels around again in the future, I want to have a method in
place were I can adjust to those changes as painlessly as possible.
Preferably something automatic that could be done without taking down
the backend.
