This also doesn't answer your question but...

I have used the 290e since free view HD became available in my area and for
the last year i have used two of them as my only tuners connected to an ion
motherboard. I have them setup as 2 physical tuners and two additional
virtual tuners (four simultaneous recordings maximum). The os is on an sdd
and two 3tb drives setup as storage.

I run mythbuntu 12.04 and update it every three months and therefore gets a
reboot about that frequently. I have had missed recordings just twice in
the last year I believe. Once because the tuner locked up (because it
recorded a show at channel closedown I think but this issue hasn't
repeated) and once because the whole system went mad and locked up...

I would say that with the state of the drivers on 12.04 in the last year
that 290e have been the most reliable dvb-t type tuners I have had (for my
usage)...
