I have Ubuntu 12.04 / Mythtv0.27  on a 1TB drive,48Gb partition balance of
drive is storage and swap, I have walked away from windows on this machine.

Grub is on the Mythbuntu partition, I think it is 2. something, I'm
recording right now. Whatever standard Grub is installed with Mythbuntu
14.04
