[mythtv-users] DB manipulation

Greetings mythizens, I'm considering taking a DBbackup form a functional
0.27 myth setup in a 12.04 ubuntu desktop environment and restore it to a
0.27 mythbuntu with 14.04 ubuntu desktop setup. Does it matter that the
"localhost" names do not match?

Everything I've read about dropping and restoring is pretty dated 0.22, not
to mention scary. Is it really as easy as MCC makes it look?

The two systems are on separate drives, a 1TB with the OS and an extension
with the recordings and a 250GB with the new OS. Will the new OS find the
recordings on the 1TB drive? (assuming they are both connected, as yet I
boot one or the other)
