Something somewhere has "corrected" the size - in the wrong direction.
There are an alarming number of places to check.
Is it just one thing with tiny type, or is it lots of things?
Which things?
Many applications; browsers, terminals, and the like, will
increase the font size with <control><shift><plus>, but it
varies.
Can you get a legible command line with either a terminal
emulator or a virtual terminal? <control><alt><F1> to switch
and <contol><alt><F7> to switch back. Try a SMALLER monitor.
If you can do that, then there are lots of things to play with.
What sort of video card do you have? Which driver are you
using?
