Hi Michael,

The PVR 950Q has both digital and analog tuners. There was one person I 
recall who said they could get both sides working at the same time. 
Pretty much everyone else said "one side or the other, only."  I tried 
to get the digital side working, but my cable company, Time Warner, was 
busy finding reasons to encrypt all the digital channels. So it never 
worked. I suspect you are trying to get the digital side working as 
well. So while it will identify a channel, it won't be able to play it 
due to your cable company encrypting it.

I did get the analog side working and it was OK. I had a std def TV in 
front of the treadmill which was the reason for wanting some std def 
recordings. So the lower resolution was OK. If my guess above as to the 
problem you're having is correct, you might consider switching to the 
analog side of the 950Q.  If so -- and if you need some examples of how 
to set the parameters -- give a shout.
