Interesting. I've noticed fast forward doesn't work quite right with my custom playback profile which doesn't use VDPAU decoding but does use VDPAU rendering. The screen goes grey while fast forwarding. I haven't used it enough to really play with seeking, other than to jump to the end of a video, which seemed to work as expected. Have you tried rebuilding the seek table for one of your troublesome recordings to see if it helps?
