Thanks Gary and Eric. And thanks for the tip re making the change without rebooting. Have now put to 250 and have 3 FE connected and streaming, 3 user jobs (transcode to NAS) running and 3 separate mythweb connections and everything seems happy! Also made the change to 250 in mythtv.cnf to make it stick past the next reboot.
