Did you test in mythtv FE ?

In FE menu items SETUP/AUDIO click scan button.
Pick a likely candidate then test (white noise).

To get the best out of iGPU & HDMI audio you will need a recent kernel
etc.
But basic audio should just work.

There is an exhaustive information gathering script on alsa website but
dmesg | grep HDA
should reveal info about HDMI HDA.
