Recent kernels likely have the drivers for both those devices builtin.
I have an S470, and it has worked with standard kernels for some time.
I am on a 3.2 kernel too (Mythbuntu 12.04). The recommendation to use
the liplianin drivers used to be because the standard ones had no
support for the TeVii devices at all. I am just guessing, but I
suspect that the drivers will be using the same code to run TeVii
devices in both the standard and liplianin drivers.
