The original file gives the same info for both ffmpeg and mythffmpeg but after the lossless transcoding they produce different results for bitrate and duration. The transcoded file is playable within myth but vlc thinks it's much shorter. Handbrake processes the tanscoded file very slowly.

I'm surprised that the metadata of the lossless cut file seems broken when viewed using mediainfo or ffmpeg/avconv. It seems that mythtranscode has a new format for mpeg-ps files that these other programs don't know.

Second is that about half of the resulting files then cause handbrake to fail on the encoding for the iPad. Handbrake just hangs at the start.

[Mark] I'm very keen to try and assist with resolving however am somewhat lacking in what would be remotely useful skillsets - like coding ability! If I can be of assistance let me know.
