Jay:

I use Arch for several things, but not currently for mythtv (no reason
other than I'm simply used to Fedora). Arch does **NOT** use RPM files.
It has its own package management system and package manager called
pacman. Pacman works well, and you have the added advantage with Arch of
the entire Arch User Repository (AUR) available as well. The Arch wiki is
incredibly helpful and should get you through any problems you may have.

I'd recommend Arch, though it can take a while to get a system up and
running. If you truly are looking to stay in the RPM world, try Fedora or
CentOS.
