Re-Reading Mark's and Martin's mails, when I am right, the popups occur
suddenly (not after a scan and the search for metadata which is immediately
started in the background), I haven't seen this behavior yet.

For myself I setup a workflow to scan for new movies with some sql
statements. Important is that the movies are moved in categories and a
parental showlevel is set based on the parental rating (and genre). Movies
not having any metadata and/or parental rating, I provide a parental rating
and run the sql. (I know mythtv has something similar, but only works once,
for newly added movies and not after I change the rating later in the
database, as this is the only fastest way to find them atm).

What I feel is missing are the following filters:
1) movies with conflicting metadata available
2) movies with metadata but no parental rating (NR)

Filter or some identification (icon)
3) movies with updated metadata available (when tmdb had versioning)
4) movies with localized metadata available (the english version was
initially loaded)

After setting parental ratings manually I don't want any magic to happen, so
I hope the behavior seen by Mark/Martin will not occur.

The first filter could solve our issue to process conflicting metadata.
Also instead of showing an empty description it could show a message like
"conflicting metadata available, please solve" or an icon. The user can
decide himself to retrieve the metadata (I have setup the "w" on the
remote). In my opinion at this point enough information is shown on the
screen to make a selection.
