You left out your nmap-command, but judging from the 988 closed ports,
it seems like you didn't specify the port range, which causes nmap to
only scan the top 1000 most common ports. I haven't checked, but I
wouldn't be surprised if port 6544 wasn't in nmaps top 1000. Try a
simple "nmap -p- localhost" instead.
