You need to bark up the right tree for the right reason.

Ask your elected representatives to force the broadcasters to leave people alone that fix their crappy guide.

NZ: http://reven.co.nz/post/whatever-happened-to-xmltvnz
A network sent a taken down order to all guides (and some others)

DE: http://wiki.tvbrowser.org/index.php/VG_Media
Stations have been trying to protect starttime and title in addition to description and pictures, but they stepped back before it was tested in court.

AU: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IceTV
A station took a guide to court for three years.

I can't speak for others, but I'm set back in developing my guide to avoid stepping on any toes and making my hobby very expensive due to legal costs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilling_effect_(law)

Karl

Excellent examples Karl. Should be noted that IceTV won their case eventually.

If anyone has examples of other countries around EPG legal laws or ways of collecting data please post here (or if volumous send me an email offlist) as I'd be interested in collating this mess into some kind of wiki (or if there is an appropriate page on a mythtv wiki collating it there.

It still surprises me that this seems to be an issue around the world where when you think about it more people knowing what was on and when....seems like a good idea for live tv.....

Cheers,
Dean
