Hello,

last night I used the update manager of my amd64 Linux Mint Debian
Edition system for an update of a few packages. Now mythbackend won't
start.

Here's what I think is relevant from /var/log/apt/history.log:

Upgrade:
mythtv-database:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
libmythqjson0:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
libdca0:amd64 (0.0.5-5, 0.0.5-dmo1),
mythtv-common:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
mythnetvision-data:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo3, 0.26.0+fixes20130608-dmo2),
python-mythtv:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
mythtv-doc:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
libmythtv-perl:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo6, 0.26.0+fixes20130628-dmo1),
Remove: mythnetvision:amd64 (0.26.0-dmo3)

After a reboot I get a setup screen in the default theme, asking for
what language I want, then asking about the details of the data base
server.

The details are all correct as far as I can tell, but the setup is
unable to connect to a data base server.

I figured that mythbackend is not running, and a manual
"/etc/init.d/mythtv-backend restart" resulted in

Cannot login to database

Would you like to configure the database connection now? [no]
[console is not interactive, using default 'no']

I realised that /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt did not exist, so I created one containing

DBHostName=127.0.0.1
DBUserName=mythtv
DBPassword=xxxxxxx
DBName=mythconverg
DBType=QMYSQL3

but to no avail. Nevertheless, there are two mysql-related processes,
/usr/bin/mysqld_safe (as root) and /usr/sbin/mysqld (as user mysql).

What is the magic trick to resuscitate MythTV?

Many thanks,

Enno
