I don't have time to look it up in my email history right now to
confirm all the details, but my recollection about the USB ceton is:

1) It does not support /dev entries...only RTP
2) As soon as you install it, you will instantly be able to get to the
ceton's web interface. However, to actually stream RTP you also need
to have a user-space process running. I don't recall the filename, but
it's in the USB driver package from ceton. This throws a lot of people
off, because with the PCI version, if you could access the web
interface, you can usually assume RTP will work. And I beleive the
process doesn't configure itself to run automatically, so you have to
do that yourself (like throw it in the crontab as an @reboot entry or
something, or create your own init.d wrapper).
3) In 0.27, there will be no /dev support. It's RTP only.
