You can compile the Mythbuntu packages yourself and then tell apt to hold
back the update of mythtv packages while you're running with your own copy
of the packages. I wrote a brief guide on how to do this a while ago, the
approach should be the same - if you try to apply the above diff, the
patch-command will complain that the patch has already been applied and ask
you if you want to revert the patch instead - and that's exactly want you
want.
