[mythtv-users] android playback without HLS?

Maybe this problem is a bit of a PEBKAC and lack of expected UI issue.
Perhaps I am not even successfully selecting a recording to be played.

What I have, once I select "Home" and then "Recordings" is a list of
shows down the left, episodes on the bottom right 2/3 of the screen and
episode summary on the top right 2/3. The episode summary changes as I
select shows and episodes from the left and bottom.

For every episode I select there is this huge honking block of
"whitespace" between the summary and the episode list. I had assumed
that pressing episodes was supposed to start one but I am starting to
think that perhaps that just selects the episode who's summary is
displayed. Is there some further action I must take to actually watch
that episode?

Presumably there is supposed to be something in that big whitespace?
A thumbnail perhaps?

I so see a somewhat sporadic stream of:

Which would appear to be successful thumbnail fetches. But I picked
one that I saw having been fetched in the log and then navigated to that
episode on the Android FE but there was still no thumbnail being shown.

Cheers,
