Hello again,

One more update,

After having a little strugle with gstreamer plugins / vdpau /
xorg.conf I got it working with hardware acceleration.
I compared playing the ogg and the mp4 1080p versions of big buck
bunny localy (I used youtube-dl to download the youtube version)
The ogg version played flawlessly and the mp4 had some stutters during
playback in video, the sound was ok.

I also tested some lower resolution movies that used to be more like
slideshows on my setup.
They were ok(ish) with a little tearing every now and then.

Only drawback I got now is that it crashes back to the login screen
quite often, and I'm pretty sure flash is no longer to blame.
Is there any way how I can debug that ? Since the usual logs come up empty.

Regards
Rob

### off topic tip for nvidia users ###
create a xorg.conf with nvidia-settings (since it does no longer exist
by default)
and add the following section to it:

Section "Extensions"
  Option "Composite" "off"
EndSection

ok that's it
### back to topic ####
