Just because your antennae point in entirely different directions won't preclude 
them receiving each other's signals. The design of an antenna involves much 
experimentation and witchcraft and results in a device that has what are usually 
referred to as /side-lobes/.

I can receive transmissions both at 90 degrees from where I aim mine and at 165 
degrees. Signal strengths are different, of course, but that isn't so critical 
with digital signals.
