You are another gmail user.  Gmail has implemented certain features,
and the one that you are experiencing is that email's sent to a discussion
list show only in your "sent mail" folder until/unless someone has
replied to (since, from the gmail perspective, it has only been sent).
Sometimes no one can (or has time) to provide assistance, and there
will be no replies.

Your choices include:

* Read the gmail forums to learn how gmail works regarding sent email
  and all the other gmail choices regarding how you are expected to use
  email in the google way.
* Attempt to change googles way of email display (good luck with that)
* Choose a different MUA and/or email provider.
