Most Comcast customers also have no idea what "IPv6" is and they don't
want to know; they just want their Internet connection to work :-)

I will have to check tonight to see if it does IPv6; I doubt it, or I
think I would have noticed, but I wasn't looking for it so I can't be
sure until I can get on the box again when I get home. However, I will
bet that the hardware is at least capable of doing IPv6 even if the
current version of the software does not (it was my understanding that
there was no way the old DOCSIS 2 modems could ever do IPv6). As you
say, Comcast is an early adopter of IPv6, although I've heard nothing
about it in my area.

Comcast will eventually be encouraging customers to go to IPv6, because
the alternative for them is going to be something like double-NAT, which
will make it impossible to do some things on Comcast that would still
work for, say, CenturyLink DSL. Nobody wants to be the first to have to
go to double NAT.

But I am relatively sure that most Comcast customers do not at this
point.
