Actually, that thought never occurred to me, and I appologize if it might
have come across that way. I tend to try to provide references to the wiki
(or other appropriate doc) whenever I remember, especially for common
questions such as udev assignements, so that people who read
the archives (perhaps months, perhaps years, from now) will have
(hopefully) a useful reference and starting point(*)(**). That is not
to say all
the wiki articles are good or easy to understand, but over time I hope that the
wiki gets improved by people who use them and find them lacking, and/or
as the situation changes (what does not work today might work tomorrow),
the wiki pages might be updated to reflect the new information.

(*) It is easy to forget that on the Internet, those search engines index
everything in the archives, forever. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That
is why some people on this list try not to provide advice on-list that has a
short shelf life (i.e. it is a bad idea today, and it will be a terrible idea
tomorrow). All too many people will get a "hit" on a search engine and
try the solution documented, and royally mess up their system because
the solution only worked on a Windows 3.1 system a long long time ago.
(**) And in this case, Micheal has been kind enough to not comment
on my "revising and extending" his response. He is a source of all
MythTV knowledge (including the arcane).
