Thanks Jerry. That was exactly what I needed. I copied
/usr/share/mythtv/themes/defaultmenu to ~mythuser/.mythtv/themes/ and
removed the following from mainmenu.xml:

<button>
        <type>TV_WATCH_TV</type>
        <text>Watch TV</text>
        <description>Watch live television</description>
        <action>TV_WATCH_LIVE</action>
</button>

No more Live TV....Yahhh. Now I can show off Myth to my guests without
anymore "Ooops" moments.
