There are two problems I had with this card, when I used it. I had to
disable the IR receiver to get it to work reliably and I always had to
cold boot the PC. When I rebooted, the card was found in a "warm state"
and the firmware was not loaded. Search your syslog for "cold state" or
"warm state". More to read here

Now I'm a happy user of two HD HomeRun. No fiddling with firmware and
drivers, they just work OOTB...
