To generate debug data in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, add to xorg.conf:
Option "ModeDebug" "true"

>From expts years ago & what I read..that read-edid tool only works in 32
bit systems.

The parser generated rubbish (from valid EDID) for me YMMV..
