I'm afraid both of us were confused here.  I had forgotten that both the 
entry in config.xml and the patch to mythburn.py were needed, and the 
patch is inaccurately quoted.  There may be a better way of doing this, 
but a per-frontend edit is:

configHostName = "TheFrontendNameAsSetInMythtvsetupAndPassedInConfigXml"
