libecec2 was released less than 2 weeks ago (10 days ago to be exact) 
and AFAIK support for the new API has not yet added...

That's to be expected since the API has changed significantly enough to 
break backward compatibility (see the libcec2 release announcement here: 
http://blog.pulse-eight.com/2012/10/11/libcec-2-0-released/ and 
especially the note in bold...).

PS: I have the adapter but unfortunately my current TV is not CEC 
compatible otherwise I would have tried to add support for the new API.
