Thanks Thomas, I got this working using your suggestion in no time! Though,
I'm not sure it behaves how you think it does. I noticed that on my setup,
it sends both keypresses at the same time when I hit the "Captions" button
once on my remote. It did this whether I listed the button line once or
twice in the lircrc file. In other words, I don't think that listing the
"button = Hash" twice in your lircrc actually makes lirc detect a double
tap on the remote.

In any event, thank you very much for this suggestion as it works very well
for DVDs and recorded TV. :)
